Motus MST makes progress

The American-made MST is being eagerly anticipated by riders in the USA, as it will be unique in its segment as a pushrod-driven sports-tourer

We have reported on the Motus MST sport-tourer motorcycle in mid 2010, an American project that appears to be now coming closer to final production. New images of the motorcycle undergoing winter testing have emerged, showing a bare-bones version of the bike, and more importantly its thumping 1645cc direct-injection V4 engine.

We're not sure whether it'll make Honda's burgeoning V4 range of engines stand up and take notice (it uses pushrods, not overhead camshafts) but the company is confident its new tourer will appeal to the local market in the USA.

Motus' 230kg sport-tourer is claimed to deliver around 160hp (118kW) and a frame-bending 163Nm of torque, with a rev ceiling of around 8000rpm from its KMV4 engine, and the company has released a new video (see below) of the dyno testing, with a promise of more to come.

Should the BMW K 1600 GTL be worried? Probably not, but it certainly find a number of buyers eager for something that stands out from the crowd.

Though unlikely to find much traction in European markets, there is a small chance that Motus MST could find favour with Australian buyers, but it's too early to tell if the niche motorcycle maker will bring its muscular sports-tourer to Australia.
