Motorcyclist shooting for RACV board

The Royal Auto Club of Victoria is a massive organisation, and now an avid motorcycle rider has thrown his hand up for a seat on the board
Professor Marcus Wigan, a long-time motorcycle rider, has declared his candidature for a seat on the Royal Auto Club of Victoria (RACV) board.
Over two million members – and this author is one of them – are eligible to cast votes in the election, which concludes on Thursday, October 13, 2011.
Wigan, who is also a transport expert, is one of six candidates running for two positions on the board.
The RACV, although ostensibly a ‘car’ club, does insure motorcycles. But its biggest sphere of powered-two-wheel influence is holding a seat on the new Victorian Motorcycle Advisory Group, which reports to VicRoads – the organisation which then advises the Victorian transport minister on all matters motorcycling, such as proposed changes to learner laws.
As a result, commonsense dictates that it would be good news for someone with Professor Wigan’s experience to be an active champion of motorcycles on the RACV board.
