Every Saturday between 10:30am and 1:00pm in the Victorian city of Geelong, the local branch of the Ulysses Club gather at the Wood Oven pizza restaurant
The motorcycle club members have been doing so for more than a decade now, and as such the council made amendments to the parking signs to ensure motorcycle-only parking between 10:30am and 1:00pm.
However a recent complaint from a car driver has stirred things up in the regional city.
According to a report in the Geelong Advertiser, a woman is furious after being fined $119 for parking in the motorcycle space outside the pizza restaurant. She said that motorcycles had special privileges and inferred it was unfair to car drivers.
"I know there's a sign there now but I didn't notice it to start with," said the woman. "I just don't understand how they can put a sign up there saying between 10.30am and one o'clock saying 'motorbikes only'."
"I just don't understand why there would be special parking just for a motorcycle club meeting," added the irate local.
She said that her husband was once a member of the Ulysses Motorcycle Club, whose motto is "Grow old disgracefully", and that she harboured no ill will towards the group, but has slammed the parking laws.
A Ulysses Club spokesperson said that parking issues were a matter for the local council. The council responded by saying the parking bays were clearly marked as motorcycle only between the designated times.
