MotoGP night racing to be trialled next year

After months of negotiations and several false starts, the MotoGP circus will trial racing under lights during a test session at the Losail circuit in Qatar, on 27 February, 2008.

Riders have mixed opinions over the idea. Loris Capirossi (pictured) has been keen to try it, though others have expressed reservations.

"It's better to race in the day. But they work a lot for the lights and they say it is possible to make it a lot better and to have very good lights and the same safety as in the day. If that's the case then okay," said Yamaha star Valentino Rossi.

Organisers say the session will be used to test the viability of the lighting at the circuit and see what improvements need top be made from there.
