Riders on their way to the MotoGP round at Phillip Island take note – a new police operation is targeting motorcyclists, particularly in the east of the state

Operation Moto Safe has begun in Victoria, where police in the east of the state “will focus on motorcyclist safety in October in the run-up to the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix at Phillip Island”.

Random breath testing sites and road blocks will be set up during the operation, with police also using automated number plate recognition technology to detect any unregistered and/or unroadworthy vehicles.

Operation Moto Safe will involve the region’s highway patrol members, uniform police, the operations response unit and state highway patrol.
