The Finer Details

Stephen Gall is one of Australia’s most decorated motorcycle racers, and he is now set to tell his story in a new book titled No Easy Way: The Stephen Gall Story.

With four Mr. Motocross titles, two Finke Desert Race wins, and three Australian dirt track championships, Gall’s two-wheel racing career warrants a book on its own. But the Sydney rider’s story extends much further.

Gall also reshaped motorcycle training through his Yamaha Academy of Off-Road Riding and brought a new level of professionalism to the sport with his dedicated approach to health, fitness, mindset, and nutrition.

He has written countless articles and columns for various magazines, acted as the Australian distributor for the CTI knee-brace brand, and maintained ongoing involvement with the now two-time champion Australian MXON team.

Add in an Australian speedcar championship, a podium finish in the Castrol Six Hour road race, an Australian MTB title, a 50-year partnership with Yamaha, and a stint as stunt coordinator for the Mad Max films, and Gall’s story is one for the ages.

The book was announced at a special event near Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium ahead of the annual AUSX Open supercross event. Speaking to family, friends, media, and industry legends, Gall outlined the genesis of the project.

“This book is a project I’ve contemplated for years, and now the time is right to bring the concept to reality and tell my story,” he said.

“I’ve been so fortunate to enjoy a successful and varied career both on the bike and off, and I’m excited to now be able to chronicle every chapter of it.”

The book also includes testimonials from racers and industry dignitaries around the globe. One such testimonial is from European legend Roger De Coster, who recently hosted Gall at his home. “It was like a priest going to have dinner with the Pope,” Gall joked.

Also featured in the 328-page coffee-table-style book are forewords from Mick Doohan, Craig Dack, and Vince Tesoriero.

Stephen Gall's No Easy Way will be available from April 2026
