Moto2 ride for Andrew Pitt

Will test and then race at Brno, substituting for the MotoGP-bound Alex De Angelis

Dual world supersport champion Andrew Pitt will return to grand prix racing at Brno on August 15.

The Isle of Man-based New South Welshman will replace Alex De Angelis on the Scot Racing Team GP210, who in turn is deputising for injured Japanese rider Hiroshi Aoyama in the MotoGP class.

Pitt will begin his super sub duties with a test in Italy in a fortnight.

"It's a great opportunity for me to return to grand prix racing and the team is happy," said Pitt.

"I'll help them with the switch from Showa to Ohlins suspension and with engine settings as I have Honda 600 experience.

"It's definitely an extremely competitive and tough class, so I'm looking forward to the challenge. It should be like the old days in world supersport when there were full grids and 15 possible winners in every race.

"I'm looking forward to testing the machine and then racing at Brno."

Pitt's 2010 has been a real rollercoaster. He began the year as a world superbike rider before his privateer BMW team folded after just a few rounds, and he then picked up a ride with a Yamaha team in the British Superbike Championship.

Pitt's Moto2 ride at Brno will mark his return to the GP paddock for the first time since 2004 when he made a few sporadic appearances for Moriwaki.

In 2003 Pitt and compatriot Garry McCoy were MotoGP riders for Kawasaki, but it was a horror year on uncompetitive machinery.
