Moto Guzzi V85 TT Travel arriving August 2020

Adventure is now more accessible with the new Moto Guzzi V85 TT Travel edition

The Mandello Eagle has been given a shot of adventure, with the new 2020 Moto Guzzi V85 TT Travel offering a bunch of standard equipment dedicated to long-distance touring. It is set to arrive at Australian dealerships in August with a price tag of $21,690 (plus on-road costs).

Building on the standard Moto Guzzi V85 TT that was launched in 2018, the new ‘Travel’ version adds a higher touring windshield, heated grips, and two lightweight urban-style panniers. It was first announced at EICMA in 2019.

The 2020 Moto Guzzi V85 TT Travel is also offered with an exclusive ‘Sabbia Namib’ colour scheme, which harks back to the Dakar Rally’s early years. If you don’t speak Italian, Sabbia translates to sand, with Namib a reference to the Namib Desert that runs along the coast of southern Africa.

All this adds up to a $2900 price increase from the standard versions price tag of $18,890 (plus ORC). There is also a higher-spec standard model which checks in at $19,590 (plus ORC).

Classic enduro

Launched in 2018, the Moto Guzzi V85 TT was a classic take on the ‘travel enduro’ segment (TT is tutto terreno, or all-terrain). It followed the demise of Guzzi’s big-bore Stelvio 1200 in 2017. Powered by an 853cc air-cooled, transverse 90 degree V-twin engine, the V85 TT is a middleweight dual sport bike that puts out 80hp and 80Nm while offering a comfortable riding position.

The bike also features KYB suspension with 170mm wheel travel front and rear, Metzeler Tourance Next (base model) or Michelin Anakee (higher-spec model) tyres, Brembo brakes with 320mm (front) and 260mm (rear) discs, and a 4.3-inch TFT display.

A key feature of the Mandello del Lario-built machine, is the Moto Guzzi MIA, a multimedia display that connects to the rider’s smartphone. The V85 TT also includes three ride modes (including an off-road mode), traction control, ABS, and ride-by-wire throttle. It carries 23 litres of fuel, and weighs in at 229kg wet, with a seat height of 830mm.

More adventure

The 2020 Moto Guzzi V85 TT Travel version carries all these features, but includes the extra equipment mentioned above to further enhance its adventure credentials. The windshield offers greater protection for the rider, with 60% larger surface area.

The 2020 Moto Guzzi V85 TT Travel includes panniers as standard

The right-hand pannier holds 37 litres, which is enough for a full-face helmet, while the left-hand pannier holds 27.5 litres. And the heated grips incorporate buttons into the original left-hand switch block. Rounding out the extra equipment is a pair of additional LED lights.
