A new era beckons for Moto Guzzi, with the historic Italian marque teasing a brand new sports touring model dubbed the V100 Mandello. The full reveal of the bike is expected at EICMA in Milan on November 23.
While information is scarce, it is likely the new Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello will be powered by a 1000cc liquid-cooled V-twin engine. The addition of liquid cooling – which can be surmised from the radiator in the photos – marks a big change for Guzzi, which has traditionally focused on air-cooled models.
Judging by Moto Guzzi’s promo video, we can tell the new machine will also feature a wide array of technology, including a TFT display, an electronically adjustable windshield, and electronically adjustable winglets that will help direct airflow around the rider for added comfort.

The V100 Mandello also appears to feature high-spec equipment including Brembo brakes, fully-adjustable suspension, Pirelli Diablo Rosso rubber, and cruise control. Uniquely, the bike also adopts a single-sided swingarm.
Interestingly, it looks as though there could be a standard version as well as a higher-spec version with Ohlins suspension.
Visually, the bike adopts a sports tourer stance that is not that far removed from the likes of the BMW R 1250 RS, or even the Suzuki Hayabusa or Kawasaki ZX-14. It also adopts a light retro theme that is reminiscent of 1990s style.
There is also a possibility of an adventure spec version of the V100 Mandello, which could carry the TT designation given to the V85. While there is no official word, it would make sense for Guzzi to utilise the new platform in a range of models.
Meanwhile, Moto Guzzi is also planning to overhaul its famous Mandello del Lario factory on the shores of Lake Como – the plant that has produced every motorcycle built by the company. The Italian manufacturer has employed world-famous architect and designer, Greg Lynn, to oversee a redevelopment of the entire site.
While it is expected that historic elements of the current buildings will be retained, the redevelopment will include increased production capacity, conference facilities, a hotel, restaurant and amenities, and community facilities for public use. The redesigned site will be part of the company’s move towards environmental sustainability.
All of this activity coincides with Moto Guzzi’s 100th anniversary – a feat which leaves it as one of the oldest European manufacturers in continuous motorcycle production. To celebrate, Guzzi has already revealed a number of special Centenario models, as well as a new V7, an updated V85 TT and a special book featuring Ewan McGregor.
