Suzuki’s Matt Moss took top spot on the podium at round eight of the Monster Energy MX Nationals in Raymond Terrace (NSW) on August 3, with his two wins and a second place giving him his first overall since round two in Appin way back on April 13.
Moss now leads the MX1 title by 40 points (653 to 603) over KTM’s Kirk Gibbs with two rounds remaining in Gladstone and Coolum, while Yamaha’s Billy Mackenzie is third on 571.
Mackenzie was third overall at Raymond Terrace, behind 19-yeaer-old teammate Jacob Wright, whose guest tenure with Yamaha is proving to be a profitable one.
Gibbs was fourth for the round, ahead of Yamaha privateer Kade Mosig.
“Today was really good for us as a team and I just felt so much confidence on the RM-Z450,” Moss said. "We really wanted to win this weekend and it's turned out to be very positive for the championship.”
In MX2, Husqvarna’s Luke Arbon continued his dominating form, the privateer collecting a ninth, first and second to wrap up his second overall win for the season. He’s now third overall in the championship behind Luke Clout (Yamaha) and Hamish Harwood (KTM).
The series now heads to Gladstone, with all the action pencilled in for August 24.
