Suzuki's Matt Moss extended his lead in the 20124 MX Nationals – Australian Motocross Championship -- at Appin (NSW) on Sunday, April 13, racing to a pair of flawless victories aboard his RM-Z450.
It was Moss’ second overall victory from as many rounds in 2014, and he now holds a 20-point advantage in the championship standings over KTM’s Kirk Gibbs.
At Appin, Moss (70 points) claimed the honours from twin brother Jake Moss (Kawasaki, 64), while Gibbs (60) completed the podium.
"I'm super-happy with this," Moss reflected. "Even though we won at the first round, it didn't really go to plan, but this time we did and it was a good race for us. I'm excited about having Jake challenge me, it was nice to dominate this class today, and we will keep moving forward from here.
"The bike is actually better than it's ever been right now. Jay convinced me to try some things in that second moto and it was even improved again, which is a big part of why this team is so strong. Decisions have been great so far and the results are there to show that, so thanks to everyone for helping us to make this happen."
Billy Mackenzie (Yamaha) was fourth overall at Appin on 56 points, from Jacob Wright (Suzuki, 49).
In MX2, Yamaha teammates Luke Clout and Jay Wilson won the races, with the former now holding a 14-point championship lead.
The MX Nationals series will continue with round three in Wonthaggi (Vic) on Sunday, April 27.
