Mosig takes top spot

Yamaha's Kade Mosig claimed the overall in round two of the 2015 MX Nationals, but it's KTM Kirk Gibbs who leads the standings

It was a CDR Yamaha affair at round two of the MX Nationals in Appin (NSW) on April 12, with Kade Mosig and Daniel Reardon taking race wins apiece, with the former collecting his second ever overall MX1 trophy.

On a tough and technical track, the MX1 class dished out a mixed bag of results — with the round proving to be a challenge for even the most experienced racers.

The opener had barely gotten underway before defending champion Matt Moss went down in the first turn. After being carted off the track by Racesafe, the Suzuki rider was airlifted from the track with unconfirmed injuries.
KTM’s championship leader Kirk Gibbs also crashed in moto one, but blasted his way back to third position behind Mosig and Luke Styke (KTM).

In moto two, it was all about Reardon, who took the chequered flag ahead of Gibbs and Styke to claim his first race win since returning from retirement. Mosig was fourth to claim the overall, with Gibbs and Styke second and third.

“It feels great to get this overall win, and to get some more solid championship points on the board,” Mosig said. “We have had really awesome preparation for this season, and I have a great team behind me at CDR Yamaha.

“Everyone is putting in 100 per cent effort to get me on the podium and it’s definitely showing when I can give back these great results."

In MX2, defending champion Luke Clout sealed the deal on his first overall win for 2015 on a countback from fellow Yamaha rider Jay Wilson. Nathan Crawford (Husqvarna) was third.
