Milner makes it four successive A4DE crowns

He led the event from start to finish on his Yamaha, and is now eying the record of six wins held by fellow Victorian Shane Watts

Yamaha’s Daniel Milner has written himself into the record books by taking out his fourth Australian Four Day Enduro (A4DE) on the trot in Tasmania on October 24.

After leading from start to finish all week, the 24-year-old completed the event nearly a minute-and-a-half in front of dual world enduro champion Matt Phillips (KTM), with Daniel Saunders (KTM) in third.

“I’m absolutely stoked. It’s been such a rough year in America, but to come out on top has put the biggest smile on my face," said Milner. “It is Matty’s (Phillips) home ground as well, and to beat him over here I’m stoked. I just kept a level head, really. I tried to eliminate the mistakes and stay smooth for the whole four days.  Everything that happened throughout the week worked well, so I was happy with that.”

Toby Price (KTM) was fourth, and was always playing catch-up after a poor day one. Even so, Milner was out of everyone's reach this week, as he now joins Stefan Merriman as the second most successful rider in the event’s history behind six-time winner Shane Watts.

Milner also won the E3 class, with Josh Green (Yamaha) and Saunders the E1 and E3 victors. Green was also fifth outright.

Tayla Jones (Women’s), Damian Smith (Veterans) and David Fleming (Masters) maintained the lead they carried into the last day to take out their respective classes.

In the teams' competitions, Victoria ended New South Wales’ five-year stranglehold on the Senior Trophy, while Tasmania led by local hero Phillips recorded the first Junior Trophy Team win in the state’s history.
