Yamaha rider Daniel Milner is only one motocross special test away from winning his first Australian Four-Day Enduro, with this year’s event being held near his home town of Warragul in Victoria.
After three days of competition, 21-year-old Milner leads the outright battle by nearly a minute over defending champion Toby Price (KTM), with Italian Alex Salvini (Husqvarna) in third position.
“I’m feeling good so far, the last two days I got through pretty clean without a crash, except a little one today on trail but nothing stupid,” said Milner.
“The rain today suited me a little better, especially in the grass test with the light 250F, as it was a lot easier to throw around in the wet stuff. The big bikes would have struggled a lot, but I loved it.
“I’m looking forward to tomorrow. I’ve raced up where the final moto is before, and if it keeps raining it’s going to be slick again so we’re going to be sliding around.”
Although Milner enjoys a comfortable buffer over Price, the latter is a former multiple Australian junior motocross champion so there’s no doubt he’ll be pulling out all stops to pull off what would be a memorable victory.
In the individual classes, Milner, Salvini and Peter Boyle (Honda) are top three in E1, Glenn Kearney (Husqvarna), Matt Phillips (Yamaha) and Josh Green (Yamaha) are the E3 pacesetters, and in E3 Price holds court from veteran Stefan Merriman (Yamaha) and Daniel Sanders (KTM).
Jessica Gardiner (Yamaha) sits atop the women’s class leaderboard in front of Tanya Hearn (KTM) and Tamara Gray (Yamaha).
