According to a report by MotoGP journalist Matthew Birt – a man who is usually on the money as far as grand prix rumours are concerned -- Australia’s Jack Miller is on the brink of clinching a Moto2 move to the high profile Marc VDS Racing squad for 2015.
Birt, who writes for British weekly MCN, says that the current Moto3 world championship leader has a pre-contract agreement in place with the Belgium squad, which currently fields Spaniard Tito Rabat and Finn Mika Kallio.
Marc VDS Racing boss Michael Bartholemy told MCN: “We have an agreement with him for next year but have to discuss the details. Jack is a big talent and it would be great to have him in our team.”
As for Miller himself, when asked in a recent interview about all the 2015 speculation he said: “My main goal right now is to fight for the Moto3 world championship this year. It is a challenge for which I have been working very hard and making many sacrifices in my career. KTM has given us all a great bike with which to achieve the title. I am 100 per cent focussed on it.
“I don’t want to think about what will happen next year; I cannot afford to think about anything else other than this season. I wish this was something only spoken about after the season ends, although I know that this isn’t possible. But all that is my manager’s job, not mine. I only know that I have nothing decided for next year. I have no contract for the future, so we are completely open and free to negotiate.”
Miller has won three of the opening six Moto3 races for the Red Bull KTM squad, and currently holds a five-point championship lead over Italian Romano Fenati.
