Miller fastest in Moto3 test

The Aussie has hit the ground running for his new KTM team, setting the pace in a test at Jerez

Queenslander Jack Miller made a good start to the new chapter in his career with the Red Bull KTM Ajo team, finishing Thursday’s first day of Jerez Moto3 testing on top.

Miller’s new team was joined by Interwetten Paddock, Ajo Motorsport and Mahindra Racing (with South Aussie Arthur Sissis), in addition to a number of Moto2 teams, on a sunny day at the southern Spanish circuit, for a perfect day to test their machines for 2014.

Miller’s 1:47.291 lap put him at the top of the timesheet on his first day on track with Aki Ajo’s team. The Australian will share a box next season with British rider Danny Kent who returns to KTM Ajo to be joined by newcomer Karel Hanika, the young Czech rider who won the 2013 Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup.

Hanika impressed on Thursday, second on the timesheet with a 1:47.827 effort, with Kent fifth best, behind Niklas Ajo and Phillip Oettl (Interwetten Paddock).

Sissis rode 62 laps with his new team Mahindra Racing, alongside Miguel Oliveira. Sissis ended the day 1.5 seconds off the pace, with Oliveira less than a second from P1.
