Michelin powers up

Michelin has launched two new families of high-performance motorcycle tyres -- the Power Cup and Power Slick

French tyre giant Michelin is turning up the heat in the performance motorcycle tyre market with the addition of two new motorcycle tyre ranges -- the Power Cup and Power Slick.

The Power Cup family is a road tyre designed to perform on the track. Michelin says Power Cup front tyres deliver enhanced manoeuvrability, stability and feedback even under the extreme loads generated by track riding, while the rear blends high levels of cornering grip with high levels of traction under hard acceleration.
Riders can choose from soft, intermediate and hard compounds, too, meaning there's a tyre to suit any given set of conditions. According to Michelin, extensive track testing showed the new Power Cup range consistently delivered quicker lap times than its predecessor, the Power One Competition.
The Power Slick range, on the other hand, represents the pinnacle of Michelin track tyre technology. Michelin says the new Power Slick is the "fastest" tyre in its entire range, and features a new optimised casing that "facilitates set-up work, so riders can adapt more quickly to prevailing conditions".
The front and rear tyres employ different architectures to better serve their differing roles, while Michelin says the tyres provide an ultra-fine level of feedback, also giving plenty of warning before any loss of traction. Soft, intermediate and hard compounds are available.
Both new tyre families were developed over the past two years and incorporate technologies gleaned from top-flight competition. A range of popular sizes are available to suit most modern sportsbikes -- visit http://motorcycle.michelin.com.au to find your nearest Michelin stockist.
