Team Honda Racing's Wayne Maxwell has increased his lead in the 2014 Swann Insurance Australasian Superbike Championship after today's round five at Wakefield Park.
Maxwell was today's overall winner with 1-2-2 results, and he now takes a 21pt lead over teammate Jamie Stauffer heading into the final round at Sydney Motorsport Park on November 23.
“If someone had said three weeks ago when I had my shoulder plated that I would get this result I would have had a difficult time believing them,” said Maxwell. “I am super happy to take the round win and extend my championship lead. A huge thanks to the team and I am really looking forward to the finale at Sydney Motorsport Park in November.”
Stauffer (2-3-3) was second overall at Wakefield Park ahead of NextGen Motorsports' Glenn Allerton (3-4-6) on his BMW. Honda's Troy Herfoss crashed out of lead in the the opener before winning races two and three.
In supersport, Aiden Wagner completed his fairytale weekend taking all three race wins, and he's now just 1pt behind championship leader Aaron Morris, both Yamaha mounted.
