Marmont switches to Kawasaki
Australia's best locally based motocross rider has defected from Yamaha to Kawasaki, bringing with him the coveted No. 1 plateMonster Energy Kawasaki has announced the prize signing of Jay Marmont for the 2012 motocross and supercross season, with the New South Welshman set to form a potent Pro Open combination alongside Scot Billy Mackenzie.
Marmont has parted ways with the CDR Yamaha to make the fresh move, leaving a team where he won the last four Australian Motocross Championships, and the 2011 Super X title.
“My time with CDR has included the best years of my career and many of those years have ended with championships,” Marmont said. “There has been a lot to celebrate and I’ve learned so much along the way. It’s been great to be a part of, but it’s time to move on and I thank the entire team and its supporters during that period of my career.”
Mackenzie’s incumbency in Kawasaki’s Pro Open outfit will stretch into a third consecutive year, while Victorian Kade Mosig, 22, is the team’s new Pro Lites rider.
The trio will now embark on an intensive pre-season testing program ahead of the 2012 Australian Motocross Championship opener in Queensland on April 1.
