Endurocross is coming to Melbourne, with a big event to be run on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at the Broadmeadows Motocross Park, 10km from the city’s CBD.
Reigning off-road and A4DE champion Toby Price, Ben Grabham, Jarrod Bewley, Stefan Merriman, Chris Hollis, Glenn Kearney, Josh Green and Wildwood extreme enduro winner Mitch Harper are just a few of the big names who will be on the starting gate for the inaugural supercross and enduro hybrid event.
The pro winner will walk away with $5000, while there will also be expert/clubman and under 19 classes.
"It's a great prelude to the (Yamaha) Australian Off-Road Championship starting two weeks later,” said organiser Colin Robbins. “It gives riders like Kearney, Hollis and Green, who have been racing overseas, a chance to see where they are placed against Price, Grabham, Bewley and Merriman. We're all really excited about it and the crowd will be too!
"Endurocross brings a whole new element to racing because it's not built on speed: it's built on the riders and his ability to ride a motorcycle over a variety of obstacles.”
The track will include rocks, boulders, logs, sand, mud, water holes and special obstacles like giant tyres and wooden sections.
Broadmeadows Motocross Park is located at 434 Mahoneys Road, Campbellfield. Entry is $25 for adults, and children under 10 will be admitted free. Eftpos facilities are available. Gates open at 11.00am, with racing kicking off at 1.00pm. The main event will be held at 6:00pm.
