After finding himself on the podium at the first round of the 2010 Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour in Mexico in April -- after it was stopped mid-way through due to extreme weather -- Robbie 'Maddo' Maddison is once again primed for action at round two in Egypt.
The Australian freestyle motocross star has been training in the deserts of Egypt in preparation for the Cairo round which kicks off on Friday May 14, and completed an impromptu desert tour at sunset --- check out the images.
It is likely that that the dry and hot conditions will play a major role in the second round of the X-Fighters, but Maddo reported that the sand didn't get into the engine during his training, which is good news.
The event will be held out outdoors, directly in front of the 20-metre-high Great Sphinx of Giza. For the record, the Sphinx was built about 4700 years ago, and is expected to create a stunning backdrop for the X-Fighters second round.
Maddo will be hoping for another podium finish in Cairo, which would put him at the pointy end of the championship, but is up against some fierce competition from around the world.
The 2010 Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour will head to Moscow, Russia, after the Egyptian event. The world's premier FMX event then makes its way to Spain (Madrid), the UK (London) and then finishes up in Italy (Rome).
