Maddo aiming for 400 feet

The Australian's latest instalment of daredevil mania will take place on New Year's Eve in San Diego, as he sets out to eclipse his previous best of 391 feet

Australia’s Robbie Maddison is planning yet another way to celebrate the New Year with a bang, this time by attempting to jump 400 feet over water in San Diego.

But that’s only part of it. Instead of going it alone this time – as he most famously did when jumping a football field in Las Vegas in 2007 – Maddison will be joined on this jump by snowmobile punter, 28-year-old Levi LaVallee.

The duo will jump over 300 feet of water at the Embarcadero Marina Park in San Diego Bay.

“Jumping long distances is a passion of mine, and I'm excited to come back for New Year’s Eve and sail over San Diego Harbor,” said Maddison, 30.

“Four hundred feet is my goal. It's not all about getting the world record to me, it’s more about understanding this feat and the commitment ahead to achieving what most would consider an impossible jump.”

The event will be broadcast live on ESPN.
