Mackenzie and Ferris for Kwaka MX team

The duo will be joined in the Monster Energy-backed team by New Yorker Phil Nicoletti, with their sights set on national motocross and supercross glory

Kawasaki Australia has announced its 2010 motocross and supercross roster, with Scot Billy Mackenzie maintaining his incumbency for a second successive year, to be joined by new signings Dean Ferris and American Phil Nicoletti. The team has also been rebranded as Monster Energy Kawasaki after striking a deal with the energy drink emporium.

Mackenzie, 26, will be KX450F mounted in both the MX and SX titles, while Ferris will be on the larger capacity Kawasaki in MX before dropping back to the 250 for SX.

Mackenzie and Ferris, 20, were second and third respectively in the 2010 Australian Motocross Championship, with the latter aboard a privateer Honda.

Nicoletti, who was eighth in the 2010 AMA West SX Lites Championship, will ride the KX250F in both championships.

The team’s first hitout will be round one of the 2011 Australian Motocross Championship at Broadford (Vic) on March 6.
