MA boss sets sights on FIM

Motorcycling Australia's CEO, David White, is up for election to one of the FIM's three Vice President roles

A recent press release from the Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), the international governing body of motorcycle sport, names the candidates being put forward for election to some of the organisation's most senior posts - and the name of Motorcycling Australia's CEO, David White, is on the list.

White is seeking to be elected to the post of FIM Vice President - three such positions are available, and White, who has been top dog at Motorcycling Australia since 1991, is one of five candidates. The other four candidates comprise Nasser Khalifa Al Atya (from Qatar), Jos Driessen (from Belgium), Paolo Sesti (from Italy) and Jorge Viegas (from Portugal).
The position of FIM President is also being contested by Venezuela's Vito Ippolito and France's Jean-Pierre Mougin, as are two posts for internal auditors.
All of the mandates are for four years, and the elections will be held in Macau, China, on Tuesday, October 19, during the 125th FIM Congress.
White wasn't available for comment at the time of publication.
