Lorenzo a Phillip Island scratching

The Spaniard crashed in this morning's warm-up, leaving Casey Stoner in the box seat to wrap up this year's MotoGP title in front of home fans this afternoon

The equation is now clear -- Honda’s Casey Stoner will clinch this year’s MotoGP title at Phillip Island this afternoon if he finishes in the top six.

That was after his main rival Jorge Lorenzo (Yamaha) crashed at high speed in this morning’s warm-up and mutilated the ring finger (see attached image) on his left hand. He has now -- quite understandably considering the severity of the injury -- been declared unfit to race.

Stoner was easily the fastest in warm-up after qualifying on pole position yesterday.
