There's a new YZF-R1 on the horizon that may just press a few extra buttons - a version carrying the livery of Valentino Rossi's MotoGP machine.
The limited-edition YZF-R1SP will go on sale in March at $21,299, $1300 more than the standard model. Customers are urged to contact their local Yamaha dealer to place an order to avoid disappointment.
The YZF-R1SP is based on a 2010 YZF-R1, but fitted with Rossi decal kit that includes #46 race numbers front and rear and the maestro's signature on the fuel tank to make it the ultimate autograph collector's piece.
The latest-generation YZF-R1 went on sale nearly a year ago, boasting a big-bang style engine, which it calls "crossplane technology", and completely redesigned aluminium Deltabox chassis.
American Ben Spies used the machine to win last year's world superbike title, Yamaha's first success in the production-based championship.
