The latest generation of Kawasaki motocrossers is just around the corner, with the 2017 KX250F set to go on sale in Australia in late July.
Kawasaki says the model is the fastest KX250F yet, with the 249cc four-stroke single-cylinder engine boasting a number of revisions and the light and narrower alloy frame helping the new model achieve "a significant overall reduction in weight".
The new KX250F now weighs just 104.5kg (down 1.7kg), while the engine benefits from a variety of updates and "factory-style tuning" to deliver more power.
The Uni-Trak rear monoshock and Showa Separate Function Fork (SFF) have both been revised for better performance, while the existing KX450F swingarm is carried over.
The chassis is now slimmer and boasts revised rigidity, while the revised radiator orientation allows for slimmer shrouds. This in turn allows for an even flatter seat and tank for better body positioning, says Kawasaki.
The engine, meanwhile, now benefits from an eight-hole injector (previously four), a more upright engine orientation (allowing a straighter approach for the intake duct), an improved shift action and what Kawasaki claims is the lightest piston in the class.
The model retains its launch control system, its adjustable footpegs and handlebars, and its easy engine tuning, the latter thanks to the KX FI couplers and KX Calibration Kit accessory.
The 2017 KX250F will be available in Lime Green with factory-style graphics for $10,499.
The model goes on sale at Kawasaki dealerships around the nation at the end of this month, but to whet your appetite don't forget to catch the Bikesales.com.au review – we'll be attending the model's national press launch on July 6.
