Le Minz kicks off

Scooter loons tackle 24-hour record

From the Le Minz organizers: It may play host to some of the biggest events on the Gold Coast calendar, but next weekend the Parklands Showgrounds will be the site of an interesting and eagerly-anticipated showdown as the High Roller Energy Le Minz 24 Hour Scooterthon comes to town.

Over 50 riders are gearing up for the iconic scooter endurance test, which aims to gauge the reliability and efficiency of current model 50cc scooters over an extended period of 24 hours. From midday on Saturday 8 September to midday on Sunday 9 September, 20 entries of teams and individuals will take to the Parklands Go Kart track to determine which manufacturer can go the distance.

But it's not just for bragging rights. For five riders, a Guinness World Record is up for grabs, with the 1084km mark set by Julio Languiller looking set to be eclipsed once again.
