Laverty and Baz heading to MotoGP

World superbike will lose two of its most exciting practitioners in 2015, with Eugene Laverty and Loris Baz off to MotoGP

Current world superbike campaigners Eugene Laverty and Loris Baz --- who ride for Suzuki and Kawasaki respectively -- will be competing in MotoGP next year.

Laverty joins the DRIVE M7 Aspar Team alongside Nicky Hayden to race what’s expected to be a more competitive production Honda, while 21-year-old Baz will be an incumbent at Forward Yamaha with fellow new signing Stefan Bradl.

“I am very excited to take on this new challenge,” said Laverty. “My greatest wish was to compete in MotoGP and finally it will be granted thanks to the DRIVE M7 Aspar Team.

“I have had to wait quite a long time but finally the chance is here and my dream has become a reality. I learnt a lot the last time I was in the MotoGP paddock, but I was very young back then and I didn't have the right material to succeed.”

The departure of the duo now leaves two world superbike seats to be filled, with Jonathan Rea a hot tip to join Sykes at Kawasaki, while who’ll be Alex Lowes’ teammate at Suzuki isn’t so clear-cut – although we're hearing that Frenchman Sylvain Guintoli has the front-running.
