Victoria has fallen into line with other states by finally allowing learner riders to use mid-sized motorcycles, under the Learner Approved Motorcycles scheme (LAMs).
From July 1, riders are able to select from an approved list of bikes, which can be up to 650cc in capacity, so long as they meet power to weight ratio restrictions.
