Kymco slashes prices on ATVs
Already gaining a foothold in Australia, Kymco could win over more ATV ridersKymco has already made a solid start in the Australian ATV market, securing 3 per cent market share in just three months.
The Taiwanese company is expected to make even more inroads in the local market with special deals on the MXU 250 and the MXU 300 ATVs, which were already priced below their rivals.
Running up until November 30, 2009, the MXU 300 is priced at $5,990 ride away, and the MXU 250 for $4,990 ride away – savings of $500 and $1000 over the retail prices respectively.
Of course the "ride-away" nature of these special deals reduces the cost further, as buyers avoid forking out for government and dealer charges.
According to Kymco the 300 model has whetted the appetites of farmers around the country with things like an automatic CVT transmission with High/Low range, braided steel brake lines, standard skid plates and brushguard, plus a "whopping" 250mm ground clearance.
Meanwhile the MXU 250 has been voted ATV Magazine's People's Choice Award for Best New Product in the past, featuring a fully digitised instrument panel with speedometer, trip meter, clock, engine temperature level and fuel gauge.
Both models are powered by liquid-cooled four-stroke engines, a 270cc powerplant in the MXU 300 and a 249cc motor in the MXU 250. As well as ATVs, Kymco also manufactures scooters and motorcycles. Both models come with a 2-year limited factory warranty.
The bike manufacturer has a fairly good track record for engine quality, particularly as it supplies many of the components for the BMW G450X's enduro engine.
