The Taiwanese scooter giant’s new ‘adventure crossover’ brings a new twist to the medium scooter market...

Kymco Australia has announced its new DT X360 scooter has gone on sale throughout its Australian dealer network.

Billed by the Taiwanese manufacturer as an ‘adventure crossover’ model, the scooter is based on the brand’s Downtown 350i but comes with wider handlebars, a higher 800mm seat height, and dual-purpose tyres to handle “light off-road terrain”.

The adventure-spec model is also more compact, being both shorter and lower in profile, with a shorter wheelbase.

The model is powered by a 321cc, four-valve, four-stroke, single-cylinder engine said to produce claimed maximum outputs of 28.4hp (21.2kW) and 30Nm, in a package with a wet weight of 194kg.

A generous 12.5-litre fuel tank is said to afford an effective range of around 300km, says Kymco.

It doesn’t want for features in general, either, with other notable inclusions spanning a keyless ignition, traction control, LED lighting, colour LCD instrumentation, and two USB storage ports, in addition to its sizeable underseat storage compartment.

"There's been plenty of interest around the DT X360 and for good reason, with its wider remit than your normal scooter," said Michael Poynton, the director of Kymco Australia.

"And with all that outstanding Downtown DNA, the foundations for an excellent scooter are already there – but this time with the ability to take on a wider variety of terrain.

"Kymco's engineering prowess is exceptional – and recently endorsed by Harley-Davidson's electric motorcycle arm choosing the Taiwanese manufacturer as a strategic partner – and the DT X360 is yet another shining example of its ingenuity."

The Kymco DT X360 is on sale now and is priced at $8790 plus on-road costs. The model is available in an orange/black livery, and comes backed by a three-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty.
