Production of KTM, Husqvarna and GasGas motorcycles will be suspended due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.
Pierer Mobility Group, the parent company of KTM, Husqvarna and GasGas, announced its response to the coronavirus outbreak in a statement.
The company’s response includes a two-week company vacation from March 30 and an interruption in operation and production until April 10.
As a result of the crisis, which the company says “requires a daily reassessment of the situation”, the published guidance for the financial year 2020 is also cancelled.
Pierer Mobility Group used the statement to explain the reasons behind the measures.
“This measure is triggered by a possible impending interruption in the supply chain from Northern Italy,” the statement reads. “Many suppliers are located in this region, which is badly affected by the coronavirus. With this measure, KTM avoids a possible uncontrolled business interruption and anticipates parts of the company vacation in the summer to stabilize the supply chain in the long term.”
The statement also reveals that worldwide distribution and supply of spare parts won’t be affected by the measurements. “The availability of all models is guaranteed for the upcoming start of the season in the worldwide dealer network,” it reads.
