KTM has confirmed that the popular SMT adventure sport model will return this year, with an official reveal scheduled for April 24, 2023.
While details about the reimagined model are scarce, it is believed that it will take the shape of an 890 SMT, utilising the same parallel-twin engine platform found in the 890 Duke and 890 Adventure models.
Judging from spy photos published by Cycle World, the new KTM SMT appears to be based on the 890 Adventure platform, but loses the low-slung tank and adds more road-friendly geometry.
The original KTM 990 SMT was released in 2009 and combined supermoto performance with adventure-bike comfort and functionality. It was discontinued in 2013.
KTM is yet to offer any specifications, pricing or availability details, with more information expected when the bike is unveiled on April 24.
