KTM Australia has confirmed the all-new RC390 mini sportsbike will go on sale in Australia in about November, 2014. The RC200 and RC125 won’t make it Down Under, however.
Based on the 390 Duke nakedbike, earlier this year we got a glimpse of what the RC390 was going to look like when KTM unveiled a race version of the bike. And now it’s been unveiled in the flesh, with KTM claiming 43hp (32kW) for the DOHC single, complete with the company’s ubiquitous and exposed powder-coated steel trellis frame. There’s a 1340mm wheelbase, it has WP suspension, and weight without fuel is 147kg.
Compared to the 390 Duke, there’s a steeper steering head, less trail, a shorter wheelbase and less suspension travel. At 43 mm, the WP upside-down front fork has the same tube diameter as 1190 RC8 R superbike.
Developed in cooperation with Brembo, the braking system includes a 300mm front brake disc as well as anti-lock braking as standard. Tyre sizes are 110/70-17 front and 150/60-17 rear.
Meanwhile, KTM Australia has also confirmed the Duke 200 nakedbike won’t be imported in 2014, leaving just the 390 Duke on sale locally, joining the bigger non-LAMS 690 and 1290 Dukes.
