Clever marketing or lazy way to name a new bike? We're not quite sure, but if you want to participate in the naming of the new KTM 125 Race and KTM 125 Stunt bikes, you can.
Just go to the KTM125 Facebook page, hand over all your private details and voila, you're a motorcycle marketing executive in 30 seconds!
Clearly KTM wants to appeal to a younger demographic and will eschew its alpha-numerical naming convention for something more comtemporary.
How about the KTM iBike, or perhaps the KTM Tambourine will resonate with younger riders in Europe?
Though the KTM 125 models have not been inked in for Australia at this stage, they will be launched in Europe in early 2011 and could find their way into other global markets at a later date.
Powered by fuel-injected 125cc single-cylinder engines with dual overhead camshafts, maximum output is a learner-friendly 15hp.
The designs of the new bikes, which were first shown late last year at the 2009 EICMA show in Italy, show off an edgy, modern take on the entry-level street bike.
The two tone wheels of the concept bike (pictured) upon which the production bikes will be modeled are nice touches, as are the twin exhausts and stubby ducktail.
