Hans Trunkenpolz, the 65-year-son of the KTM founder of the same name, has died following a heart attack suffered during a half marathon in Altötting, Bavaria.
Trunkenpolz retired in December last year following a professional life dedicated to motorsport and to KTM. During his time at the Austrian company, he nurtured motocross champion Heinz Kinigadner and led KTM to eight successive victories in the Dakar Rally.
Ultimately, the other sport he loved, running, brought about a sudden end to his life. RIP Hans.
