KTM Australia has issued a number of safety recalls through the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission for a number of its models, spanning its road, off-road and ATV ranges.
Firstly, the 990 Super Duke R (MY2007) has been recalled due to a potential problem with the steering damper clamp, the failure of which may cause "reduced handling ability". According to notice posted on the ACCC website, the component has failed in a total of three bikes in other world markets.
Meanwhile, the 300 EXC (MY2009) has also been recalled, due to a potential fault with the model's inner fork tubes. Apparently an incorrect heat treatment process has resulted in a potential for the inner fork tubes to crack.
Finally, recalls have been issued for KTM's 450 XC and 525 XC ATVs (MY2008/2009), and 450 SX and 505 SX ATVs (MY2009), due to a potential fault with the models' rear brake caliper carrier support and front brake master cylinder plunger return spring. The failure of either component may lead to incorrect brake function.
