KTM developing 750 Adventure with CFMoto

The partnership between CFMoto and KTM is set to produce three new 750cc motorcycles

KTM is set to add a 750 Adventure, 750 Duke and a 750 Supermoto T to its lineup as the Austrian brand kicks off a “massive increase of cooperation level” with its long-term Chinese partner CFMoto. The news was confirmed by a recent investor presentation for KTM parent company Pierer Mobility.

The new 750 twin-cylinder platform will complement KTM’s expanding 890 range and will be available for KTM and CFMoto products, the first of which will be the CFMoto 800MT adventure tourer, due in the first half of next year.

Both CFMoto- and KTM-branded 750 models will be produced in a recently-completed joint-venture manufacturing facility in Hangzhou, China, which has a production capacity of around 50,000 motorcycles per year with expansion to around 100,000.

The 2013 joint venture was initially expected to produce only small-capacity KTM-badged motorcycles for the Chinese domestic market, but the plan now includes a 750 platform for global markets.

CFMoto is also the sole distributor for KTM in China, which last year sold approximately 17.1 million motorcycles.

The KTM 790 Adventure range has been a hit for the Austrian manufacturer

The presentation did not provide a timeline for when we can expect KTM’s new 750cc range. It is also unknown whether these motorcycles will make their way to Australian shores, with several KTM models in overseas markets not sold here.

The CFMoto CF1250J will be produced as a civilian bike

The news follows CFMoto’s recently-announced grand plan towards becoming a motorcycle superpower. With a brand-new factory and a host of forthcoming models, including the 300SR and 700CL-X, the Chinese manufacturer announced it is working on a civilian version of its CF1250J police bike that was unveiled in May. The 1278cc V-twin machine – the largest, most powerful motorcycle ever produced by a Chinese manufacturer – will soon be deployed across various law enforcement agencies in China.

The new 700CL-X range will be a big boost for CFMoto

Founded in 1989, CFMoto has been competing in the motorcycle and powersports markets for more than 30 years. It is China’s largest exporter of ATVs and UTVs with an annual production capacity of more than 600,000 units, distributed to more than 80 countries.
