KTM announces five-rider line-up for 2011

And it's a cracking one too, spearheaded by Dan Reardon in the Open class and Matt Moss in the Lites

The JDR Motorsports KTM has locked in a talented five-rider line-up for the 2011 Australian motocross and supercross season, with Dan Reardon and Matt Moss returning from America to spearhead the Open and Lites classes respectively.

Ryan Marmont will campaign alongside Reardon in the Open class aboard the 350 SX-F, while Moss, Josh Cachia and Brenden Harrison will contest the Lites with the all-new 250 SX-F.

Marmont is making the switch from the Lites class, while Reardon, 24, will be looking to reclaim the national motocross and supercross titles he won in 2007 on a Kawasaki before moving to America.

Reardon is currently racing a Honda in the 2010 Super X title, which concludes in Brisbane this Saturday (December 4), while the Suzuki-mounted Moss is looking good to make it back-to-back titles in the Lites class. Moss, 22, was also the 2009 Australian Lites motocross champion.

“I am really excited for our 2011 line-up,” said JDR Motorsports team manager Jay Rynenberg. “Not only are we still teamed up with KTM, but we have some great riders which I feel really reflects the level JDR as a team has reached. Next year brings familiarity in Ryan and Josh, plus we have some new exciting talent coming through with Matt, Dan and Brenden.

“2010 has really been an up and down year for JDR Motorsports with some great results and the loss of Andrew McFarlane. With our 2011 team I really am confident that we will challenge for the Open titles and defend our outdoor Lites title.”

The 2010 season saw American PJ Larsen win the Lites Aussie motocross title, while Tye Simmonds finished fourth in the Open equivalent. Both riders will spearhead JDR Motorsports’ all-new U.S-based team to contest the 2011 AMA Supercross and Motocross Championships.

The team will once again be racing in memory of the late Andrew ‘Sharky’ McFarlane, who tragically passed away after an incident earlier this season as the lead rider on the JDR Motorsports KTM team.

“Losing Andrew McFarlane was a huge loss to the entire racing industry and a loss that we will never forget,” Rynenberg explained. “I hope for 2011 we can put our KTMs out front again for Sharky and his whole family.”

The team’s 2011 campaign will commence at next year’s Australian Motocross Championship season opener in Broadford, Vic on March 6.
