The acclaimed KTM 890 Adventure R has been updated for 2023, with a number of technical changes making for a refined and rider-friendly package.
At the top of the list of updates is re-tuned WP Xplor suspension, with the changes designed to help reduce rider fatigue. The bike also features redesigned bodywork with a new faring, fuel tank and cowling, resulting in improved aerodynamics and ergonomics.
In addition, the 890 Adventure R has a new and lower windshield, a high front fender, and engine protection, ensuring bike and rider are both ready for technical terrain.

There are a number of electronic updates too, with a new 5-inch TFT display featuring a new appearances and intuitive graphics, as well a new turn-by-turn navigation system, a call-out function, and USB-C connectors.
Improved ABS components include a new modulator and take readings from the 6D sensor, while a brand new “Demo Mode” can let riders trial different electronic options and packs for the first 1500, after which they can decide what to purchase permanently.
Elsewhere, the 2023 KTM 890 Adventure R features bold new graphics and brand new Mitas Enduro Trail+ rubber.
The updated adventure touring machine is due to arrive in Australian dealerships from February 2023, while pricing is yet to be announced.
KTM is yet to announce the standard 890 Adventure and the up-spec 890 Adventure R Rally for 2023. While updated versions of these models may still be revealed separately, it is possible that they have been scrapped as the company continues to grow both the Husqvarna and GasGas brands.
KTM Australia told bikesales earlier this year that the standard 890 Adventure is only sold locally in small numbers compared to the harder-edged R model.
