KTM 890 Adventure gets more offroad prowess for 2023

The revised 2023 KTM 890 Adventure will arrive early in the new year

The KTM 890 Adventure will return for 2023, with the base model benefiting from revisions that enhance its capability and comfort.

Joining the dirt-friendly and refreshed 2023 KTM 890 Adventure R, which was announced in September, the updated 890 Adventure will arrive on Australian soil in February 2023.

At the top of the list of changes is upgraded ergonomics and bodywork which KTM says adds more protection and comfort. This includes a lower seat height, a front 'mask' that is now integrated with the fairing, and wider panels.

Also upgraded is the WP Apex suspension, which now adds rebound and compression clickers to the 43mm fork and new settings for the shock.

Elsewhere, there is a new Bosch 9.3 MP ABS unit, revised ride modes, and a new Demo mode, which allows riders to trial optional rider aids for the first 1500km before committing to purchasing them.

Other small revisions include a higher windscreen, a more-comfortable two-part seat, an updated 5-inch TFT display with new hardware and redesigned software, new Pirelli Scorpion STR tyres as standard, and sleek new graphics.

KTM Australia told bikesales earlier this year that historically the KTM 890 Adventure has not been sold in huge numbers on Australian soil. This is due to a stronger interest in the off-road-capable 890 Adventure R. The new Husqvarna Norden 901 also gives punters a better-equipped alternative.

However, with the new changes, it appears KTM is keeping its faith in the base model 890 Adventure and, with an attractive price tag, could garner some added interest.

Pricing is yet to be announced for the Australian market for either the 890 Adventure or the 890 Adventure R models. There is also no current word on a higher-spec Rally version as per previous years.
