Kenny Roberts is selling off a portion of his private motorcycle collection, with several racing models -- including the 2004 Proton KRV5 MotoGP bike campaigned by
Roberts' youngest son, Kurtis -- being listed on the website of Japanese bike broker, RMD Motors.
The KRV5 MotoGP bike is in running condition and comes with several spares. It failed to make much of a mark on the 2004 World Motorcycle Championship, scoring just
the one point at the French round in Le Mans, but it would certainly make for a fast and head-turning entry at any track day.
Also on offer is a 2002 Proton KR3, another works GP bike that was ridden in the premiere category, this time by Nobuatsu Aoki. Aoki claimed 63 championship points aboard the machine that year, but no podiums or poles. However, as one of the last 500cc two-strokes racing in
the season that saw the introduction of the 990cc four-strokes, it does represent the end of an era in Grand Prix motorcycle competition.
A second-generation Team Roberts Modenas V3
500 is also up for sale. The latter doesn't have an ignition system, but RMD Motors says it has a contact in the UK that can make one if required.
Rounding out the parcel of exotica is Kurtis Roberts' 1999 Erion Racing Honda CBR900RR Formula Extreme bike, plus the same rider's 1994 Yamaha TZ125, with which he
contested the Spanish 'Open Ducados' series.
Japan-based RMD Motors doesn't list prices for any of the Roberts machines, which will presumably go to the highest bidder. For more information click here to visit the RMD Motors website.
