The 2025 Yamaha YZF-R1 and YZF-R1M will arrive on Australian shores in February 2025 with important updates covering aerodynamic performance, handling, and braking.
Yamaha revealed earlier this year that the YZF-R1 would be a track-only machine in Europe from 2025 onwards, with the Japanese firm opting not to meet Euro5+ homologation requirements.
But Yamaha Motor Australia confirmed that both the R1 and R1M models would remain on sale as road-legal in Australia for the “foreseeable future”.
New features for the 2025 YZF-R1 include new carbon fibre aerodynamic winglets, a new fully adjustable 43mm KYB front fork, new radial-mounted Brembo Stylema monobloc front calipers and a Brembo master cylinder, and a new seat cover.
Carried over is the 998cc CP4 engine with crossplane crankshaft technology, as well as the comprehensive electronic suite and compact aluminium Deltabox frame.
The up-spec YZF-R1M adds Ohlins electronic suspension, as well as a GPS data logging system as standard.
Pricing for the YZF-R1 starts at $32,999 ride away, while the YZF-R1M checks in at $41,499 ride away.
