Ken Roczen has hit the surf with World Surf League pro Julian Wilson as he prepares to race at the inaugural WSX Championship Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne this weekend.
The German-born supercross star is visiting Australia for the first time and took a golden opportunity to partake in a session at Melbourne's popular Urbnsurf wave pool.

Roczen shocks by joining new championship
Roczen is favoured to claim the FIM World Supercross Championship this weekend as the two-round series wraps up at Melbourne's Marvel Stadium.
Before arriving in Australia, the Honda Genuine factory pilot expressed his desire to go for a surf while visiting Australia for the first time. The multi-time AMA champion is known as a passionate amateur surfer.
Wilson, a veteran of the World Surf League tour, is a fan of motocross and supercross, and has met Roczen several times before.
"I've had a few surfs with Kenny before over in California," said Wilson. "He's a bit of a surf frother the same way I love supercross, so we've been having a ball out here in the wave pool."
Roczen was equally excited about the opportunity. "Julian and I, we share each other's passions and once I heard we had the opportunity to come here and surf together I jumped on it," the Honda rider said.
According to Roczen, the global travel involved with the new WSX Championship is a highlight. "I really like to experience different cultures and connecting with fans all over the world," he said. "So being able to travel from country to country is kind of new in supercross and I can't wait to see where this is going."
The first-ever WSX event was held in Cardiff, Wales, two weeks ago. Wildcard Eli Tomac claimed the round win, but Roczen was the best-placed full-time rider, with Vince Friese close behind. Australian hero Chad Reed had his return to racing cut short with a nasty crash but, while he is not racing, he has still made the trip to Australia.
The inaugural WSX Australian GP kicks off Friday night at Melbourne's Marvel Stadium in conjunction with the Australian Supercross Championship, while the WSX main event will take place on Saturday night.
