We've covered a few Ken Block yarns on Bikesales over the years, and a journo from one of our sister websites even rode shotgun with the professional rally driver and all-round entertainer when he was Down Under a few years ago.
The American, 48, has his own competition outfit called Hoonigan Racing Team and, at the end of last year, he became a Can-Am ambassador — and with his competition roots it wasn't a surprise to see him add a new Maverick side-by-side sports vehicle to his collection. Well, two really: the Maverick X rs 1000R Turbo and the MAX version of the model.
According to autoevolution.com, Block prefers the smaller X rs two-seater because it feels "pretty much like a cross between two of my favourite vehicles: a dirt bike and a rally car".
Anyway, the pair didn't remain stock for too long, and the Maverick x has since been customised with a custom cage, a long travel kit, new doors and race steering wheel. There are also Can-Am wide flares, custom 'Ken Block' seats, additional lights and forged wheels with Toyo tyres.
Block took another direction with the MAX RS turbo, and it's street legal with the wherewithal to also go off-road. It has a genuine sport roof, doors, windscreen and wide flares, embroidered seats, brush guard, extra lighting and the same wheels as the X rs.
Both Mavericks also have camo paint.
"I'm super stoked on how these two builds turned out," Block was quoted
as saying by autoevolution.com. "Can-Am has such an amazing platform from which to build with these things. The fact that they come turbo
from the factory is a huge plus to me since it means I don't have to
mess around with a ton of aftermarket engine stuff to have the speed and
power that I want right out of the box.
"My team did a great job
upgrading these though. I just wrapped a fun holiday down in Utah with
my wife and kids and we all had a blast ripping around in the dirt with
these. My kids in particular absolutely love getting some air time with
me in the four-door MAX RS Turbo!"
