Kawasaki ZX-10R stretched

Witness what happens when the world's most powerful litre-class sports bike gets given a make-over, American style

The 2011 Kawasaki ZX-10R has been making headlines this year for not only its insane power output of almost 210hp (154kW), but also for its eye catching looks.

Arguably one of the best-looking sports bikes in the litre-class category, the hard-charging Ninja has recently been treated to its first high-profile make-over courtesy of an American tuning house, Roaring Toyz.

Built by ex-racer Robert Fisher who runs Roaring Toyz from Florida, the ZX-10R has been treated to an intriguing work over, and the most significant change to the bike's image is the stretched single-sided billet aluminium swing arm (with black anodised finish) and rather large 240 aspect ratio rear tyre shod to a Performance Machine alloy rim.

The elongated swingarm by Fisher certainly gives the sport bike a very different look, making it a more imposing bike, and will be sure to turn heads, but we can't help but imagine what the extended swingarm does to the bike's handling... Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

According to Roaring Toyz, the stretched swingarm is "Beautifully hand crafted to the highest specifications" and ensures that riders "can have that wide tyre and plenty of stretch without a jackshaft," which it says results in more power to the wheel and simplified maintenance.

If you're mad-keen on getting one of these swingarms, you can order one from Roaring Toyz, as it makes the billet single sided swingarm kit for several power mongering favourites (Suzuki Hayabusa, GSX-R600, GSX-R750, GSX-R1000, Kawasaki ZX-14, ’09-10 Yamaha R1, and BMW S1000RR) and they include installation kits.

Other changes to the world's most powerful sports bike include custom stainless steel braided brake lines for improved brake feel, plus a chrome billet license plate bracket.

Add to that a custom paintjob and a MotoGP-inspired straight-through exhaust pipe, and you're left with a motorcycle that not only looks different, but is sure to sound different too.

We must admit it looks a little strange seeing riders with no helmets (see images) because in Australia you cannot ride legally without a motorcycle helmet, but according to Fisher the motorcycle handles well and will reward hard riding. Fisher says the bike was designed to be raced (e-gads!) but is for the racer who also wants to look good cruising boulevards.

The custom motorcycle has a clear North American look and feel, thanks largely to the high bling quotient from the Performance Machine wheels, and will no doubt open the flood gates to an bevy of modified ZX-10R Ninjas.
