The Kawasaki Z250 naked bike has broken cover in Japan, showing off a modern new design that that takes cues from the Z1000. But it won't be coming to Australia.
Based on the new Kawasaki Ninja 250/300 platform, the Z250 discards the fairing and adds new side panels and a new-look headlight and cowl that tie it closely with big brother, the Z1000.
The rest of the baby Zed bike is essentially the Ninja 250/300, including the frame, front forks, exhaust pipe, seat section and so forth.
However the new Z250 does get flatter, higher handlebars which will improve comfort levels. It could also weight in with a lower kerb weight due to the removal of the fairing.
Based on the Ninja figures, the new Z250 should weigh around 170kg while the 300cc version is expected to pump out similar power and torque figures: 39hp (28kw) at 11,000rpm and 27Nm at 10,000rpm.
