Kawasaki will take the wraps off a modern classic version of its Z900 at the Tokyo Motor Show, which kicks off on Wednesday, October 25.
The Z900RS gets its design cues from the legendary 1970s Z1, particularly the tank and tail unit, but everything else will be based on the Z900 – much the same way as the Yamaha XSR900 gets its engine and chassis from the MT-09.
The Z900 was an update to the Z800, but with a new lightweight steel frame and larger capacity 948cc in-line four-cylinder engine which is good for 124hp (92.2kW) and 98.6Nm. The Z900 also has an upside-down 41mm fork and near-horizontal rear shock.
