The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission has issued safety recalls for a number of Kawasaki's ZX-10R and 1400GTR models.
The recall for the ZX-10R is due to the potential for a casting flaw in some engine crankcases, which could allow the engine to leak oil.
The following VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) ranges are affected:
ZX1000JBF: JKAZXCJ1 BA000069 to JKAZXCJ1 BA006422
ZX1000KBF: JKAZXCK1 BA000020 to JKAZXCK1 BA000925
ZX1000KCF: JKAZXCK1 CA004001 to JKAZXCK1 CA004713
The recall for the 1400GTR is due to a gap between the rear brake pedal and the guard, which may potentially collect road debris -- should the debris result in partial application of the rear brake, the brake could overheat.
The following VIN ranges are affected:
ZG1400A8F: JKBZGNA1 8A005014 to JKBZGNA1 8A015150
ZG1400A9F: JKBZGNA1 9A019004 to JKBZGNA1 9A022902
ZG1400CAF: JKBZGNC1 AA000021 to JKBZGNC1 AA003757
ZG1400CBF: JKBZGNC1 BA006001 to JKBZGNC1 BA010028
ZG1400CCF: JKBZGNC1 CA013185 to JKBZGNC1 CA016941
Owners of the affected vehicles should contact their nearest Kawasaki dealer to arrange for the fault to be rectified.
